What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

It might have been a crazy idea but I thought it was worth trying … and I like  the results of using sashing as the design feature in quilts, rather than the blocks.

I made the sashing wider than normal in most of the designs, and added some insignificant block designs.. The rest of the space  is open space for quilting.

I might have to add colour, and instead of the applique blocks use whole fabric blocks with  interesting designs.

Note that the fine sashing in the second design is used as the final border in the first design.

Sashing is something quilters use to separate pieced or applique blocks, especially in sampler quilts, but I think they can be the feature part of a quilt design too.

I love the second design … I am tempted to play with colours in this one, but that will not happen over the next week … too many other things happening in life!

Sashing is usually the boring bits separating intricate applique or pieced blocks, but in this project file the sashing is the star of the show.

I must find some time to play with these designs with the focus on adding quilting designs to the designs. I think I might still use a some applique, but keep it simple and not too much of it.

Now all I need is a few hours with no housework, gardening or interruptions.
